Best Perth Live Music Memory?

Hands down seeing Nils Frahm at the Old Power Station in East Perth. Nils has always been high on my ‘bucket list’ artists to see, so it was incredible to see him locally. I remember being so excited when I realised he had toured with his whole studio set-up which is much rarer to see these days. He has such a big set-up and it’s an equipment nerds dream. It was also the first time seeing a show at the Power Station, which is an incredible venue for sound and aesthetic.

All-Time Favourite Music Video? (the one you’ve watched way too many times!)

I guess this one isn’t quite the traditional music video - but, I have watched the Ben Bohmer live set for Cercle in Cappadocia Turkey way too many times. Ben Bohmers live set is amazing and it is all filmed from hot air balloons over the 1.5hrs. It’s extra special now that I have also been up in the hot air balloons there. I also enjoy any music video with epic dance choreography such as Griff - Miss me too and Childish Gamino - America

Your Go-To Tip for Breaking Into Your Industry?

I think be as genuine and authentic as you can be to yourself and your art/craft. I have always found this to be the best tool to meet and network with people as it generally attracts and pulls you to like minded people in the industry. I’m not a big social media guy at all and am often quite stubborn (to a fault) when it comes to using it, but I have still been able to make amazing connections and play a lot of great shows in the arts scene. I believe this authenticity has been a major factor in being able to achieve that.

Your Best WA Music Deep Cut? Could be a venue, a band, or an unforgettable gig story.

I miss the old late night house band ‘The Spread’ from the early 20-teens at The Ellington. We would often go there after a late night out to decompress and listen to some ripper Jazz over a Cafe Patron. The guitarist specifically had the best shred face of all time and they were just really really good.
